Former Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto Endorses Hector & Alonso for Assembly

Prieto Praises Democratic Candidates as True Community Leaders

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – Vincent Prieto, the former Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly who represented the people of Secaucus, North Bergen, West New York, Guttenberg and other local communities in the State Assembly for 14 years, is strongly endorsing Tony Hector and Frank Alonso in the 33rd Legislative District Democratic Primary Election.

Prieto, who lives in the current 33rd District and previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, cited his long personal relationship with Hector and his deep respect for the candidates’ willingness to challenge the political status quo and stand up for the people.

“Tony Hector is someone I have had the honor to call a friend for many years, and when he announced that he was running for State Assembly to represent my former district I was ecstatic,” said Speaker Prieto. “Along with Frank Alonso, Steven Fulop and Frank Schillari, Tony Hector is running to give the people of North Hudson and Secaucus a strong voice in Trenton who will stand up for them and fight for our communities. I’m excited to give Tony Hector and Frank Alonso my full support and I urge Democrats in the 33rd District to vote Democrats for Change on June 10.”

Hector and Alonso are running a campaign based on standing up against the Menendez/Stack political machine to deliver lower property taxes, more affordable housing and open, honest government that works for the people, not the politicians.

“We’re incredibly honored to have the support of former Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, a man who built a reputation for fighting for his ideals and standing up against political bosses and special interests to deliver for the people,” said Hector.

“This endorsement adds to our campaign’s momentum as we build towards what will be a historic result on Election Day when we defeat the Menendez/Stack political machine.”

Tony Hector Pledges to Donate Assembly Salary to

Union City Food Bank When Elected

Hector: “This is About Public Service, Not Self Service”

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — Democratic Assembly candidate Tony Hector is pledging to donate his entire legislative salary to a local Union City food bank when he is elected to represent the people of the 33rd District. Hector, a successful self-made businessman and community leader who is running against the political machine, will send his full $82,000 salary as an Assembly member to the Palisades Emergency Residence Corporation Food Bank located at 111 37th street in Union City.

“Serving in elected office should be about public service and not self service, so today I am pledging that if I have the opportunity to represent the people of the 33rd District I will donate my full Assembly salary to a local food bank that serves families in need here in our community,” said Hector. “I came to this country from Cuba with nothing and I have been fortunate enough to live the American Dream and became successful in both business and in life with my family, and now I’m running for Assembly to give back to the community that has given me so much.”

Hector is running on the Democrats for Change team along with Assembly candidate Frank Alonso, Steven Fulop for Governor and Frank Schillari for Sheriff. Hector and Alonso have based their campaign on standing up to the political machine to deliver lower property taxes, more affordable housing and open, honest government to the people of Hudson County.

Demand Immediate Action to Expand Voting Access Along the
Hudson Waterfront

Assembly Candidates Launch Petition Demanding Political Bosses Stop
Disenfranchising Voters

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. — Democratic Assembly candidates Tony Hector and Frank
Alonso are calling on the Hudson County Board of Elections to immediately expand
access to polling sites along the rapidly growing Hudson River waterfront, citing a lack
of adequate voting locations in neighborhoods stretching through Weehawken, West
New York, Guttenberg, and North Bergen.

Hector and Alonso are launching a petition drive calling for polling places on
River Road and will be going directly to the voters to demand change.

Despite explosive population growth along the waterfront, the Hudson County political
machine has ignored these communities, creating barriers to voting instead of making it
easier for people to make their voices heard," said Hector. Our democracy works best
when every voice is heard, not just the ones that are convenient for the political
machine, and we will not stop fighting to make sure that every voter has an equal
opportunity to vote.”
In a formal letter sent to the Board of Elections
(with backup emails), Hector and Alonso
outlined urgent steps they say are necessary to ensure equal access to the ballot in the
upcoming June Democratic primary. They are demanding the establishment of at least
three new in-person polling places along River Road, as well as one early voting site, to
meet the needs of residents in one of the county’s most densely populated and
underserved areas. Thus far, the Board of Elections has not provided any
response despite the clear urgency of the situation with the Primary Election less
than six weeks away.

Alonso said, We are demanding action now because every voter, regardless of where
they live, deserves the opportunity to participate in this critical election. The Board of
Elections must operate impartially and put the needs of residents ahead of political
gamesmanship.

The campaign is calling for an immediate response and stands ready to work with the
Board to ensure equitable voter access is secured before the primary.
